What happens to my money?

First and foremost you need to remember that 100% of what you give is used on projects. Normally donations will be pooled to fund projects, unless the gift is specifically nominated for a particular purpose. In each case, the "investment" is monitored on a local basis to ensure that the money is used wisely and any loans repaid on schedule. Then the whole process is repeated and the money is reused to help someone else. Over the course of five years a donation of only £30 could fund up to 40 projects, which couldchange the lives of around
250 people.

How do you pick projects?

Change4Change’s initial criteria is to finance sustainable business projects that take people out of poverty. Much of Change4Change's work is based on relationships. Without the business infrastructure we are so used to in the UK, we need eyes & ears on the ground. In all areas we have trusted local intermediaries who are commercially aware, working and reporting to specific guidelines. Click here to download the PDF "Operating manual" (Developing world).

How do you establish relationships outside of the UK?

To allow best use of funds, we have established relationships with a number of certified intermediaries who work in developing countries around the world and with whom we already have experience of their ability to be "eyes and ears" on our behalf. These include organisations such as:-
Links International: www.linksinternational.org.uk and: www.58i.org

How do you monitor projects?

Using the same "eyes & ears" approach as mentioned in the previous question, we ensure that all projects are running successfully and we are receiving regular reports and where possible photographs. All projects also receive mentoring and visits from our own / partners' local advisors. Our framework is no different to how a Business Advisor would work with a UK business, but often in very different countries and cultures using similar commercial principles.

What are your success rates?

Currently the vast majority of projects are successful with over 90% of businesses continuing to show growth. This results in families being taken above the poverty line and in some cases, fund recipients are even donating money into the scheme.

Is it really 100% used on projects?

YES! All the administration costs are covered by the trustees of Change4Change. NO money will be deducted from your gift. 100% goes where it is needed.

What are the borrower’s terms?

Any monies lent carry a rate of interest /admin fee locally, normally below local bank borrowing rates. This is set in conjunction with the local administrator and may be used to cover the business support these projects receive. The interest is NOT used by Change4Change to cover any of our own administration costs and any surplus is recycled along with the
other repayments.

What about Data Protection?
